Making Sense of Supplements

The supplement chaos…it can be overwhelming - right?!
If you’ve ever felt totally confused by what the wellness industry says “you have to have” - I see you. I AM you.

Every day, it seems like there’s a new pill, powder or promise claiming to help all of us lose the weight, balance our hormones, boost energy and sleep better. And for women, especially those of us in midlife trying to do all the things, it can feel impossible to know what’s actually worth our time, money and effort.

A few week’s ago on the Empowered in Health Podcast, I unpacked one of the most confusing topics in the wellness space: supplementation. I shared about what it is, why it matters and how to approach it intentionally and personally.

Because when it comes to supplements - utilizing them with intention can be incredibly powerful on your health journey. But they will never replace the foundations of wellness - nutrition, rest, movement and stress management. Any kind of supplement are meant to supplement and strengthen those habits, not stand in for them.

That’s why mindfulness in the wellness space matters. Women are sold the quick fix. The “this will solve everything” capsule. The influencer blend that promises to change your life in 30 days. But we have to remember that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to your body.

What works best is what’s highly personalized to you.
Your hormones.
Your digestion.
Your nutrient absorption.
Your imbalances and deficiencies.
And your environment and stress load.

As we age, here’s how the body is evolving and potentially needs more support:

  • Nutrient absorption naturally declines

  • Hormonal changes increase our nutrient demands.

  • Our modern lifestyle full of stress, poor sleep and environmental toxins - depletes us even further.

That’s why supplements can play such an important role.
But they’re not as a magic bullet.

Simple a tool to fill gaps your food and environment can no longer cover.
And the key is having a strategy and getting highly personalized.

Remember…

1️⃣ Supplements are supportive, not foundational.
2️⃣ Personalization always wins over trends.
3️⃣ The right strategy should feel simpler, not more stressful.
