Slowing Down Helped Me Drop 30+ lbs

“Slowing down to speed up.” That’s the focus I share with my clients - especially midlife women who feel stuck, inflamed, exhausted and frustrated AF that their body isn’t responding the way it used to.

Because here’s what I’ve learned personally and professionally:
The more, more, more mentality is not the path to lean, strong and energized in midlife.
It’s actually the fast track to burnout.

So when I say I stopped a lot of things and slowed down (a lot!!) to help myself heal, lose the 30+ lbs and feel the best I have in years, I mean it. I stopped chasing intensity. I stopped glorifying exhaustion. I stopped equating discipline with deprivation. And I started getting intentional with my energy.

That shift changed everything. So here’s more of what I did…

1. I Stopped Under-Eating

For years, like so many women, I believed eating less was the answer. If progress stalled, I tightened things up. Cut a little more. Skipped a little more. “Cleaned it up” again. But under-eating crushed my energy. It spiked cravings. It made my workouts feel harder. It disrupted my sleep. It stressed my hormones even more. And in midlife, that stress compounded FAST. Which lead to feeling more and more “stuck” over time.

2. I Backed Off Constant Intense Cardio

There was a season where I believed sweat equaled success. More intensity meant more results. And the more I was “dripping in sweat” the better the workout must be. Right? Wrong. What it actually meant was more inflammation, more cortisol and more fatigue layered on top of an already full life.

3. I Stopped Saying Yes to Everything

This one might be the most powerful. Because boundaries are a health strategy. Overcommitting doesn’t just drain your calendar, it drains your nervous system. Chronic stress elevates cortisol and our overall stress response in the body. This makes everything on a health journey feel 10x harder. So it’s no wonder I felt like I was hitting a brick wall over and over.

4. I Stopped Skipping Joy in the Name of Discipline

Let’s face it - diet culture taught us to delay joy.

“I’ll enjoy life more after I lose the weight.”
“I’ll relax once I hit my goal.”
“I’ll feel confident when…”

That narrative keeps women stuck in a constant state of striving and never arriving. Which is an awful way to live. Point blank. Finding JOY every day is a huge piece to regulating the nervous system. And a regulated nervous system is the foundation to reaching long-term health goals.

5. I Stopped Guessing

I said this in a post earlier this week. And I’ll say it again and again.
Because this might be the biggest shift of all.

I wasted years guessing. Trying trends. Following generic plans.
Taking supplements without clarity. And just pushing through symptoms.
But at some point - the body says “NOPE” - we do not need more band-aids. We need personalization, attention and sustainability! Enough is enough.

When I got clear on a bio-individual strategy - everything changed.

My energy improved. My inflammation dropped. My strength increased. My body composition shifted. But most importantly, I felt calm and confident in my approach instead of constantly second-guessing if I was headed in the right direction. There’s something about data and certainty that helps you feel more connected and faith filled that you’re on the right path - you know?!

If you’re done guessing your way to feeling energized, lean and vibrant - and you’re ready for structure, boundaries, personalization and support - this is exactly what I build inside my coaching program!

As a reminder - Applications are still open, but not for long! I have 3 spots remaining and we kick things off on Monday, 2/23.
