The Hidden Cost of NOT Investing In YOU!

As we step into a fresh year - a moment filled with possibility, hope and momentum - I want to invite you into one of the most important conversations we often avoid: the true cost of staying the same.

Most of us show up at the start of a new year with intentions to feel better, do better, be better. But what happens when life gets in the way? When time slips by, responsibilities accumulate and the investment we plan to make in ourselves keeps getting delayed?

When that happens - we have to face this question head-on:

“What is more expensive — staying the same or finally choosing to invest in change?”

At first glance, it might seem like staying the same is easier - less financial expense, no discomfort, no new habits to learn. But I want to really encourage you to reframe that belief because what feels comfortable now can actually be more costly in the long run - emotionally, physically, mentally and relationally.

Instead of just talking about what it takes to reach goals, flip the script and consider the price of inaction:

  • Time lost — the months or years that go by when we keep postponing growth

  • Energy drained — the weight of undone intentions, unresolved feelings and unmet needs

  • Self-trust eroded — believing we can’t follow through on our own hopes

  • Well-being compromised — when health takes a backseat to “everything else”

All of these reflective questions are meant to be an invitation to awareness. And an emphasis on the mindset shifts that can truly move you forward as we step into 2026.

If you’re a busy, working mom like me - especially when you’re juggling multiple roles (motherhood, work, partnerships, community) - prioritizing health isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity. And remembering that investing in ourselves fuels every other area of our lives, not just the personal stuff we tend to hide away.

So, What Will You Choose This Year?

Tune into Episode 208 on The Empowered in Health Podcast to hear more of my perspective on how this isn’t just about starting the year well - it’s about making a decision that echoes throughout your life: to value yourself enough to invest in the change you seek.

Commit to making this year one of the best yet - for your growth, for your dreams, for you.
